Recently, I received a custom data request asking for an Excel file or spreadsheet for US Census of Agriculture Data. US Census of Agriculture is pretty easy to pull on the USDA’s website — well compared to using the American Fact Finder 2 — but the challenge is that the data is provided in PDF format.
So if you need the data in an Excel or spreadsheet, here are 2 hopefully helpful options.
1. If you need ALL data in the US Census of Agriculture tables, you can use Tabula to convert the PDFs into tables.Tabula allows you to extract that data in CSV format, through a simple interface.
2. If you DON’T need all data in the tables but rather you need specific data points, you can download specific data points using the Quick Stats tool .
